Aside from my love of photography, I have always loved houses & real estate. In 2003 I became a licensed real estate appraiser in the state of Illinois, and have always enjoyed the individual beauty every house possesses. Capturing that individual beauty in a property for sale is essential, especially in today’s internet real estate market. Buyers make their choices of property to visit (or NOT visit) based in great part on the photographs of the property in the MLS listing. Don’t waste time with a point n’ shoot camera expecting a few snapshots to entice a buyer’s visit... invest in a great set of photographs, taken with a good wide-angle lens. The enhancements I do to the photos are with the Mac program Aperture, brightening and some minor color enhancing to the image. I do not use photoshop, I refuse to deceive buyers by removing other houses, utility poles or changing interior colors using such a program. I let the wide-angle lens do the work, capturing the staged room in it’s OWN beauty. Sunbursts or other “Lightroom” program enhancements I find to be more distracting than anything else, taking away from showing off the house, which is what the photographs in a listing are for!
